Tyne-Wear derby injuries, Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Miley out, Sandro Tonali a major doubt | OneFootball

Sunderland visit St James’ Park on Sunday for the Tyne-Wear derby, with Régis Le Bris and Eddie Howe juggling injuries.

According to Sunderland Echo, the visitors’ list is longer, while Newcastle also have key absentees and took a significant hit in Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

Bruno Guimaraes is out with a hamstring issue and has been sidelined since February, with a return expected after the international break. Lewis Miley is also out after a dead leg and subsequent muscle damage in late January, and is likewise expected back after the break.

Sandro Tonali is a major doubt, having gone off early in the second half against Barcelona with a hip or groin problem.

Reinildo is available after building fitness over the last fortnight and resuming full training at the weekend, and his return, following an outstanding reverse fixture, would be a major boost to Sunderland’s hopes. Both managers are due to provide updates at their pre-match press conferences on Friday.
