Tyrhys Dolan reacts to former teammate Callum Brittain's transfer to Middlesbrough
After spending three years with Blackburn Rovers, defender Callum Brittain has completed a move to Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.
The Bedford-born ace made his move to North Yorkshire, signing for Middlesbrough on a four-year deal after making over 100 Championship appearances for Blackburn.
Former teammate Tyrhys Dolan took to Instagram via the Blackburn Rovers official account to say: "What a player, all the best brother in your next step."
Brittain has been a key component of the fixtures and fittings at Ewood Park, being a regular starter at right-back and formed a close connection with his right-flank partner Dolan over the past three years.
As for Middlesbrough, the loss of their 28-year-old right-back Anfernee Dijksteel to Turkish side Kocaelispor this summer has meant that Brittain joins Boro with a void to fill and will for sure be a regular and crucial part of new manager Rob Edwards' XI.
Dolan himself, after spending five years at Rovers, left the club this summer as a free agent to La Liga side RCD Espanyol in which he shared a montage of his time at the club alongside a heartfelt message for Blackburn fans on Instagram.
Dolan said via Instagram: "This chapter of my life has been one I will truly never forget... I will always be watching as a supporter."
Brittain also took to his own Instagram account to write a message to Blackburn Rovers fans saying that "this wasn't an easy decision to make, Blackburn has become a second home to me".
It's a partnership that Blackburn fans are sad to see come to an end with the pair being fan favourites.
With Brittain and Dolan out of the door, manager Valerian Ismael has recruited a new right-back to slot into the line-up in replacement of Brittain.
Ryan Alebiosu has joined Rovers, having spent the start of last season at Belgian side KV Kortrijk before being loaned to St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
As for the right-wing, Ismael has seemed to have opted for a 4-3-2-1 formation in pre-season, which has seen forward Ryan Hedges operate from the right-hand side.
