Alexander Nübel’s future at FC Bayern remains open and much depends on the extent to which he will still be part of VfB Stuttgart’s plans

Alexander Nübel’s career plans are entering the next round. According to Sky information, a meeting took place last weekend between Alexander Nübel’s management and VfB Stuttgart during the cup final

As insider Florian Plettenberg announced in the „Transfer Update“, Nübel would „love to stay at VfB Stuttgart“. And FC Bayern wouldn’t mind giving him up to their Bundesliga rivals either. On the contrary: Nübel no longer has a future in Munich

Bayern are more than satisfied with their current goalkeeping trio, consisting of Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig and Sven Ulreich, which is why the bosses are pushing for Nübel to be sold. However, as everyone on the market knows this, Plettenberg says this approach „destroys the price“

Another Nübel loan conceivable?

Bad news for Bayern: VfB Stuttgart continue to rule out a permanent signing for Nübel. Instead, they want to rely on the young Dennis Seimen for the coming season. He already demonstrated his abilities on loan at SC Paderborn last season

However, a third loan of Nübel, who has been playing in the Ländle since 2023, would still be conceivable for the Swabians. According to Plettenberg, they want to meet this week to discuss the possibility of Nübel staying. However, a decision is unlikely to be made in the next few days – also because the chances of another loan are very slim

What is clear, however, is that if FCB do not find the right buyer for Nübel, the topic of a VfB loan could also become attractive again at Säbener Straße

Premier League as a way out?

Within the club, a move to the Premier League is seen as the preferred solution anyway. The reason is obvious: clubs from England would be in a much better financial position to both pay an attractive transfer fee and take on Nübel’s current salary

The goalkeeper currently earns around eleven million euros per year, a sum that practically rules out a long-term stay at VfB Stuttgart

Particularly interesting: Should Bayern make a serious move for Anthony Gordon, Nübel could apparently move to Newcastle as part of a swap deal.
