U21s Preview: Manchester City vs Leeds United | OneFootball

Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action on Saturday night, facing Manchester City Under-21s at the Joie Stadium, a week after they fell to defeat against a strong Arsenal Under-21s side.

On their last away trip, the Whites impressed despite falling to a late 2-1 loss away to Liverpool Under-21s. United led for much of the game, thanks to a penalty both won and converted by striker Marley Wilson.

Previously in league action, Leeds beat Reading 2-0 in Berkshire, with Harry Gray and Rhys Chadwick on the scoresheet, before Scott Gardner’s side were edged out 1-0 by Stoke City on home soil.

And, in the Premier League International Cup, United’s campaign came to an end after a youthful team were beaten by an impressive RSC Anderlecht outfit.

Leeds currently sit 20th in the congested PL2 standings with 14 points from their opening 12 encounters, 10 places but just five points below the Sky Blues.

City go into the clash having won five of their last eight games in all competitions, including an 8-1 home win over Burnley and a 6-1 away win against Stoke City last time out.

The teams last met four campaigns ago, as the Whites fell to a 3-1 defeat at Elland Road despite Mateo Joseph opening the scoring in front of over 21,000 supporters – a record crowd for the PL2..
