Úbeda shakes up Boca squad and tactics for Estudiantes trip

With the presence of the two new signings, Boca trained at the Ezeiza complex for the last time ahead of Wednesday’s match against Estudiantes in La Plata. Claudio Úbeda organized a football practice in which he tested the team that will play against El Pincha.

This afternoon’s session featured the new signings: Santiago Ascacibar and Ángel Romero trained for the first time with their new teammates and took part in the first part of the training. Afterwards came the football practice, from which conclusions can be drawn for tomorrow’s match.

Úbeda changes the formation.

Sifón Úbeda, as usual, lined up the team that is expected to start. Agustín Marchesín was in goal and the back four remained the same with Juan Barinaga, Lautaro Di Lollo, Ayrton Costa, and Lautaro Blanco. The changes were in the midfield.

The coach made a tactical adjustment: he used a 4-4-2 formation, leaving behind the 4-3-3 that he had used on Sunday against Riestra. Tomás Belmonte, Leandro Paredes, Williams Alarcón, and Kevin Zenón were the four midfielders who took part in the session. The Xeneize attack was made up of Lucas Janson and Exequiel Zeballos.

The changes at Boca

Alan Velasco’s absence is due to the injury he suffered in his left knee, which will keep him off the pitch for about two months. The other player who left the team was Ander Herrera, but this was to preserve his fitness, as he played a large part of the match against Riestra.

Thus, the coach will make two changes: one forced by the injury to the attacking midfielder, and the other to rest the 36-year-old Spaniard who has accumulated a considerable number of minutes between friendlies and official competition, without a break. Velasco will be replaced by Zenón and Herrera by Alarcón.
