Boca Juniors have been handed a boost before the clásico with San Lorenzo, as Alan Velasco returned to full training on Friday. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the attacker completed a formal football session with the squad.

Following the big win over Lanús and a day off, training resumed at the Ezeiza complex. While the starters worked on recovery, Velasco took part in the practice match with players who had few or no minutes in that game.

Behind closed doors he was seen lively and moving freely, with no sign of discomfort, which prompted optimism among the medical and coaching staff.

Velasco had suffered a Grade two strain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during the match against Riestra.

The key question now is whether he features at La Bombonera. Although short of match rhythm, his progress is favourable enough that he could be named in the squad to face San Lorenzo on Wednesday 11 March.

If called up, he would start on the bench, a high-quality second-half option in a fixture noted for its intensity and physical battles.
