UEFA confirmed that Fenerbahce must reimburse Nottingham Forest for damage at the City Ground, with fines and an away-ticket ban issued after unrest during last month’s Europa League play-off.

The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body fined the Istanbul club €30,000 for lighting and throwing fireworks and imposed a ban on selling tickets to away supporters for their next one UEFA competition match. A further €20,500 penalty was levied for acts of damage, and the club has been told to contact Forest within 30 days to settle the cost of the broken seats.

Forest hosted Fenerbahce on February 26 for the second leg on Trentside, winning 2-1 on the night. Vitor Pereira’s side advanced to the last 16, 4-2 on aggregate, after a 3-0 first-leg victory in Istanbul earlier in the month.

Early in the match, pyrotechnics were thrown from the away end on to the pitch, prompting a three-minute delay as flares landed in the Forest penalty area. Jair Cunha and Neco Williams had to take evasive action, while Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown removed pyrotechnics and appealed for calm.

After the final whistle, images on social media showed damage to seats in the away section. Forest have since beaten FC Midtjylland in the last 16 and will face Porto in the quarter-finals, with the first leg in Portugal on nine April and the return at the City Ground the following Thursday.
