Bologna FC 1909 strengthens its commitment to local animal shelters by relaunching the project ‘Un Gol per Loro’, a season-long initiative aimed at shedding light on and offering new opportunities to dogs in need of a home while also fostering a culture of care, respect, and togetherness. Following the success of last year, the Club is furthering its support by involving players, staff, and fans in a variety of activities.
As a first symbolic yet crucial move, Bologna has remotely adopted two shelter dogs, one for each partner facility. To ensure these dogs, and all the other animals in the shelters, get the affection, attention, and moments of joy they deserve, the Club has also launched a corporate volunteer programme. Employees will have the opportunity, during work hours, to take the dogs for walks, offering them new experiences, cuddles, and happiness. A simple yet meaningful gesture to make the dogs feel loved, valued, and part of the Rossoblù family.
The two dogs adopted remotely by Bologna FC 1909 are Romeo and Jago, guests at the Marzabotto shelter ‘Un Animale per Amico ODV’ and the Calderara di Reno shelter ‘Fuori le Zampe ODV’, respectively. Romeo, born in 2019, is sweet, outgoing, and on a journey of rediscovering the world thanks to the volunteers helping him regain confidence and his curiosity. He loves outdoor walks, cuddles, and, despite his diet, treats. Jago, born in 2013, is a Pit mix with a big heart and a difficult past. After spending years in a shelter and then returning to a family, he is unfortunately back in a kennel. He struggles with confinement and misses human companionship. Once he receives it, he bonds deeply. Jago needs a stable environment and deserves a family to care for him through his old age.
While the remote adoption and volunteer programme provide genuine support, Romeo and Jago, like all shelter animals, are still waiting for a permanent home and a family to welcome them for life.
Through this initiative, Bologna sends a simple yet powerful message: even small gestures can change the life of another living being. The Club hopes that its example will inspire others to dedicate time, offer support, or even open their homes to a new four-legged companion. With ‘Un Gol per Loro’, Bologna FC 1909 highlights its role as a beacon of solidarity that sees sports not only as competition but also as a means for responsibility, care, and love for others.
