Unai Emery has warned Aston Villa that a Champions League place is not yet secured as a decisive final month begins.
Sunday's 4-3 win over Sunderland, sealed by Tammy Abraham's stoppage-time strike off the bench, means they need six points from their final five Premier League matches to guarantee a return. They visit Fulham on Saturday.
Villa also have a Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest as they chase an end to the club's 30-year trophy drought. Emery said his side can feel better and hold some advantage over rivals, but stressed there are still matches to play.
He added their position can reinforce confidence to push more strongly in the Europa League. He underlined that the target is clear, with the league the priority and a top-five finish bringing Champions League football.
“We’re doing so well but there’s still hurdles to get past. With the confidence and belief we have among each other, we should get the job done,” said Abraham. He told Villa TV.
