After playing a key role at the end of last season and during the Club World Cup last summer, Colwill suffered an ACL injury before the start of the season.

The England international hasn’t played since July, and has been a big miss for Chelsea this season, who have continued to have defensive issues.

Chelsea hope Levi Colwill will play again this season

With just nine games left in the Premier League you would have to say it looks unlikely he’ll feature, although there was a positive sign on Tuesday morning.

Colwill was pictured taking part in Chelsea’s open training session ahead of their Champions League game against PSG on Wednesday night in Paris.

However, journalist for The Athletic Simon Johnson has quelled the excitement as he provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“Understandable excitement from #CFC fans over seeing Levi Colwill in training earlier.

“This is not the first time he’s been with the group but it is still early days in terms of playing again.

“It is still a good sign & the hope/plan is he will play before the end of the season.”

Chelsea looking to sign a centre back this summer

Having not signed a replacement for Colwill last summer, the Blues are thought to be in the market for a centre back this summer.
