Manchester United appear to be leading the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It’s been a turbulent start to the season for Man United, with the club falling to a 3-1 loss to Brentford on Saturday. This result all but erased the memory of their impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea the previous weekend.

Perhaps one of the few decent performers was striker Benjamin Sesko, who scored a goal and finally seems to be adjusting to life at Old Trafford.

Still, as United’s only available natural striker, it’s clear that he would need some support as the club looks to navigate what could prove to be a challenging season.

It appears that manager Ruben Amorim understands this issue, with an elite Serie A forward appearing on United’s radar.

Links with Vlahovic emerge

Vlahovic has long been linked with a move to United, although no deal transpired during the summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, it was reported that United could look to revisit a deal for Vlahovic next summer.

Then, barely a few days later, a contrary report claimed that the Juventus striker is not on United’s agenda at this time after all.

Suddenly, another extreme U-turn in the transfer saga has occurred, with United seemingly interested in the Serbian after all.

Stepping up the pressure

“Manchester United are eyeing a surprise move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in 2026, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport,” GIVEMESPORT wrote in a new article.

“The Old Trafford side are reportedly monitoring the Serbia international ahead of his contract expiry, as Vlahovic is expected to depart Turin next year, either in January or as a free agent at the end of the season.”

This report suggests that United could make a move for Vlahovic as soon as January, which is even earlier than the previous expectation, which was for United to make a summer swoop.

“Juventus are aiming to cash in on Vlahovic before his deal runs out in June and are open to listening to offers in January, with his reported salary of £370,000-a-week proving to be a burden for the Serie A club,” the report continued, suggesting that a January transfer appears more likely than a summer deal.

“Both Man United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old, with the newspaper describing the Red Devils as ‘front-runners’, though it remains unclear if their interest will materialise as early as January.”

While Sesko appears to be a more than capable signing for United, he can’t be expected to lead the front line on his own, especially since Rasmus Hojlund is out on loan and Chido Obi appears to be too young and inexperienced to become a regular in the senior squad.

Grabbing four goals and one assist in his first six games of the season, Vlahovic has shown fine form in the Serie A and UEFA Champions League, proving his ability to become the ideal teammate for Sesko up top as United look to bolster their goalscoring ability.
