In a recent post on X, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Liverpool and their pursuit of Red Bull Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. It has been stated that the Reds have failed with their €100m offer to sign the Ivory Coast wide player this summer.
Diomande enjoyed an impressive rise at the German club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 19-year-old banged in 13 goals and earned ten assists in 36 matches for RB Leipzig last season on all fronts.
The Ivory Coast wing wizard is currently one of the most gifted young wide players in the Bundesliga. Thus, it is no surprise that the Reds are showing interest in recruiting him later this year.
His current deal at the Red Bull Arena will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, Liverpool have got no choice but to make an improved offer if they want to sign him this off-season.

Diomande is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Ivory Coast sensation has already added a lot of goals and assists to his game. Diomande mainly operates as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to get him on board later this year.
We can expect Diomande to add more quality and depth to Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola’s attack in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at Anfield in the coming seasons. Furthermore, the Ivory Coast international could even serve as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah at the Merseyside club.
At 19, Diomande has got the potential to be a world-class wide player someday. Therefore, Iraola should consider going back in with an improved offer for him this summer. However, the player’s market value will only increase if he continues to impress for the Ivory Coast national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
