Utrecht have announced the signing of German youth international Jamie Schuldes on a free transfer from RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old defender left RB Leipzig at the end of his contract and has signed a deal with the Eredivisie club until 2030. Schuldes has represented Germany at U16, 17, U18 and U19 level during his time in the RB Leipzig academy. Schuldes leaves RB Leipzig having yet to make a first team appearance for the club.

Clearly for the defender, leaving RB Leipzig for Utrecht will give him plenty of opportunities to play first team football. He will also join up with a head coach in Anthony Correia who has done well in working with young players at Telstar, who had a fantastic season and defied everyone to avoid relegation from the Eredivisie, Correia’s reward for such a good two years with Telstar is to take over at Utrecht from Ron Jans. The side finished sixth but were unable to secure European football via the play-offs, with Ajax beating them in the final.
