Alberto Marí is stepping up his recovery after March surgery, with Valencia assessing the best plan for the striker’s next step.

According to Superdeporte, he underwent an operation on 20 March in Valencia to repair a left biceps femoris injury sustained at CD Mirandés, a decision agreed by the medical teams of both clubs. The procedure ended his season and shifted his focus to rehabilitation.

Marí broke into the first team in 2022-23 under Rubén Baraja, alongside fellow academy products Diego López, Javi Guerra and Cristhian Mosquera. He impressed against Villarreal at Mestalla, seeing one effort ruled out, then headed the winner at Balaídos to push Valencia towards safety.

After three goals in the following pre-season, momentum stalled with a serious setback. In 2023-24 he returned to action, made 16 appearances, mostly from the bench, and netted a penalty in Balaídos to underline his finishing.

Valencia then sent him on loan to Real Zaragoza, where he featured in 27 games and scored two goals, struggling to nail down a regular role. A subsequent move to CD Mirandés was cut short by a fresh problem in the same area of his left leg.

He is now back on the grass and working with the ball, with positive feedback within medical timelines, though no return date has been set as caution takes precedence. Once cleared to play, Valencia will review options for minutes, and another loan currently appears the likeliest route.
