Valencia centre-back alarm as Tárrega and Diakhaby injured, Copete one booking from suspension | OneFootball

Valencia face a centre-back shortage, with Tárrega and Diakhaby sidelined. Eray Cömert returned to training yesterday as the club push to bring in a defender this window.

According to AS, Carlos Corberán is having to patch things up at the back while days pass without a signing. Cömert was on the bench against Getafe but could not replace Tárrega because he felt discomfort.

The Swiss is set to go from out of favour to almost indispensable. Unless a new arrival lands before Espanyol, he will start alongside José Copete. He has started only once this season, at the Metropolitano, and has logged 116 minutes in La Liga across three matches.

Copete is on four yellow cards. If he is booked again against Espanyol, Cömert would be the only centre-back available to face Betis.

Corberán hopes to have a reinforcement by then, though for now there is no news of a deal.
