Valencia make three signings, no January exits for second time of Lim era

Valencia closed the January window with three arrivals and no departures. Unai Núñez, Guido Rodríguez and Umar Sadiq have come in to reinforce a spine that was not rebuilt as planned in summer after the exits of Mosquera, Enzo Barrenechena and Sadiq.

According to AS, the club filled two vacant squad places from summer plus the slot opened when Mouctar Diakhaby was deregistered because of a long-term injury. Attempts to move on Raba, Santamaría, André Almeida and Cömert, whose deal ends in June, did not come off.

With outgoings blocked, further reinforcements did not arrive, something Carlos Corberán would have preferred. It leaves Valencia with business focused on incomings only.

Corberán will work with 25 senior players, including three goalkeepers. That means, allowing for injuries or suspensions, the staff must omit two players per match and seven of the 23 called will not take the field. It also complicates minutes for academy players in the first-team orbit, such as Iranzo, Panach, Lucas Núñez and Otorbi.

This is only the second January without an exit in the Lim era, the other was 2023. Under Lim, January has typically been used to trim the squad or reduce salary commitments, for example Germán Valera, Caufriez and Dani Gómez left a year ago after Corberán’s arrival, while Paulista departed in 2024 and Daniel Wass in 2022.
