Vasco have lodged a formal offer for 22-year-old Cuiabano. According to Globo.com, the Rio club want a loan with an option to buy, while Nottingham Forest prefer a permanent sale.

To unlock talks, Vasco are proposing a clause that would turn the option into an obligation if on-field targets are met.

Those targets are linked to appearances. Should Cuiabano play a set number of games for Vasco this season, with at least 45 minutes in each, the obligation would be triggered. Fee and terms remain under discussion, and there is no agreement yet.

Botafogo had priority on a return after two years together, but a transfer ban prevents registrations. The player’s representatives have moved on as the European window nears its close, and began exploring alternatives last week. The defender is not against joining Vasco.

A Grêmio graduate, Cuiabano joined Botafogo in April 2024 and was part of the squads that won the Libertadores and the Brasileirão that year. He was sold to Nottingham Forest in August 2025, then loaned back to Botafogo for the second half of last season.

He rejoined Forest at the start of January and has not been named in a first-team squad so far, featuring only in under-21 competitions as an over-age player.
