Vasco have opened talks to sign River Plate midfielder Kevin Castaño, 25. According to Globo.com, the Colombian, who featured at the last World Cup, is of interest to the club’s football department.
The move comes amid delays in finalising negotiations for Santiago Sosa of Racing, prompting the club to pursue an alternative for the middle of the park.

Castaño came through at Rionegro Águilas in Colombia before a transfer to Cruz Azul in Mexico.
He was later sold to Krasnodar in Russia.
In 2025 he returned to South America and represented River Plate across two seasons.
He lost his starting place in 2026.
