Victor Osimhen is not believed to be interested in cutting short his loan with Galatasaray during the January transfer window.

Napoli wanted to sell Osimhen permanently during the summer and Chelsea negotiated up until the final hours of the window, only to fail to get a deal over the line before the deadline. With the striker frozen out of the Napoli squad and his chance to move to another top-five division now gone, Osimhen sealed a 12-month loan to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Reports have tipped Chelsea to reignite their interest in Osimhen during the winter window but, according to Florian Plettenberg, the Nigeria international is not interested in an early exit from Galatasaray.

It is said that Osimhen, who has eight goals and four assists in just nine games this season, is enjoying his time in Istanbul, having established himself as a fan favourite and the talisman of the team, and he is not yet thinking of anything beyond his current loan contract.

Galatasaray are even expected to try and sign Osimhen permanently next summer, believing he would be interested in such a deal, but the finances involved - Napoli plan to demand at least €75m (£62.7m) - make it almost impossible.

That could open the door to Chelsea who, unlike Galatasaray, have the ability to finance such an expensive move.

Chelsea declined to sign a new striker after their pursuit of Osimhen collapsed. Manager Enzo Maresca has retained his faith in Nicolas Jackson, who has struck six times in 11 Premier League games, while reserve option Christopher Nkunku has nine goals in seven cup games.
