The Egyptian FA suspended Al Ahly youth team official for eight match after violent scenes in Republic League final.

What happened after the final whistle

The Egyptian Football Association announced a series of disciplinary sanctions on Sunday following incidents after the Republic League U2009 final between Al Ahly & Zed FC.

The match ended with Zed winning 3-1 allowing them to claim the league title for second consecutive season. However celebrations were overshadowed by clashes between staff members from both clubs after the final whistle.

Eight-Match ban for Al Ahly administrator

According to the official statement, Abdelrahman Saeed an administrator with Al Ahly’s 2009 team was handed eight-match suspension and fined 10,000 Egyptian pounds.

The sanction followed his physical assault on Abdelrahman Tarek Yehia, deputy head of Zed’s youth sector which led to the match being stopped after full time.

The FA described the incident as a serious breach of discipline and stressed that strict action was necessary to protect fair play in youth competitions.

Multiple sanctions for Al Ahly staff

The Egyptian FA also imposed several other penalties on Al Ahly:

  • A fine of 1000 pounds for delaying kick-off
  • A 5000 pound fine for repeated collective protests and pitch invasion by technical and administrative staff
  • Another 5000 pound fine for inappropriate behavior toward the opposing team

In addition Walid Soliman head of the youth sector was suspended for one match and fined 1000 pounds after being sent off for protesting.

Head coach Mohamed Mohamed Ezz received two match ban and 5000 pound fine for inciting players and objecting to decisions while goalkeeping coach Ehab Khamis Mohamed was banned for four match and fined 1000 pound for unsporting conduct.

Zed official also punished

The FA confirmed that Abdelrahman Tarek Yehia, Zed’s deputy youth sector head was not exempt from punishment.

He received two match suspension and 1,000 pound fine for entering the pitch and showing unsporting behavior toward opponents.
