Inter and Barcelona target Jonathan David does not expect guaranteed playing time if he leaves Lille and says he’ll make a ‘wise’ transfer decision in the summer.
The Canada international’s contract with Lille runs out at the end of the season and several clubs have already been linked with the 25-year-old.
David’s imminent end of contract means he’s already available for a free transfer at the end of the current campaign.
Scorer of 23 goals in 41 matches with Lille this season, David spoke about his future with CBS Sports on Sunday.
“I’m not sure if I’m staying [at Lille] or going, but if I do end up going, I’m going to push to play at the highest level,” he said.
“Obviously, when you play for a big, your position is never guaranteed; you need to fight. I’m willing to fight. I know it’s an important year, an important decision, so I’ll make a wise decision.”
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported in October that Inter had already begun preliminary talks with the striker’s entourage, with Barcelona and Newcastle also interested.
