Manchester United loanee Antony scored his second goal for Real Betis in their Europa Conference League meeting with Gent on Thursday evening.

Antony has enjoyed a superb start to life at Betis since departing United in the January window to search for regular first-team minutes.

The Brazilian – who is United’s second most expensive signing ever behind Paul Pogba – was named MVP on his debut, a 2-2 draw at home to Athletic Club.

Last weekend, in his second match for Betis, Antony opened his goalscoring account in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo.

He opened the scoring at Balaídos in the 10th minute of proceedings, taking a touch with his right foot, shifting on to his left and producing a brilliant finish from inside the box.

Now, he has clinched his second goal for Betis, in just his third appearance for the side. Betis made their way to the Planet Group Arena in Belgium to face Gent in Thursday’s Conference League knockout round playoff clash.

There was nothing to separate the two teams at half-time but Antony only needed two minutes after the restart to break the deadlock.

The 24-year-old collected the ball on the right, effortlessly bypassed an opponent, and unleashed a powerful low strike with his left foot into the back of the net.

The United loanee ran to the corner flag in celebration as his teammates surrounded him.

Earlier this week, Betis’ CEO insisted that they’ve been impressed by Antony’s impact at the club since he arrived from United.

The Betis chief also admitted that they would be open to keeping Antony beyond the end of the 2024/25 season. The winger also recently expressed a desire to continue at the Seville outfit.

At his current pace, Antony is well on course to achieving his goal.
