(Video) Marmoush sparks City’s turnaround against Wolves
Manchester City beat Wolves 2-0 on Saturday as Omar Marmoush scored early to boost their Premier League title push.
Manchester City returned to winning form with an important 2-0 home victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in matchday 23 of the Premier League on Saturday.
City took control from the opening minutes and scored quickly through Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush who gave the hosts the perfect start.
The first goal arrived in the 6 minute. Marmoush reacted sharply to well placed cross from Portuguese right back Matheus Nunes and finished with smart touch into the net.
The early strike settled City and gave them confidence after difficult run of league results.
Man City added second goal just before the break. In the second minute of stoppage time, Antoine Semenyo received excellent pass from Bernardo Silva and struck powerfully from inside the box to make it 2-0.
The goal gave Pep Guardiola’s side full control heading into the second half.
The win ended City’s poor league run after four straight matches without victory. They had drawn against Sunderland, Chelsea and Brighton and suffered defeat to Manchester United.
With this result City moved up to 46 point in second place cutting the gap to leaders Arsenal to four points ahead of Arsenal’s match against Man United on Sunday.
Wolves remain in serious trouble staying bottom of the table with 8 point in 20th place.
