Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior sat down with NBC Sports today to discuss a few topics as the Blues prepare to take on Crystal Palace tomorrow.

The more interesting parts were the tactical questions the new coach was asked.

Liam Rosenior speaks to NBC Sport about his Chelsea tactics.

Robbie Earle pointed out that he and his fellow pundits sometimes had trouble understanding where Enzo Fernandez’ role was.

“Is he a six? Is he an eight? Is he a ten?” the pundit asked, echoing, what many fans have said in the last few years.”

Rosenior’s answer was very telling:

“I love Enzo because he’s world class in all the roles you’ve mentioned,” the Chelsea boss said.

“You can play him as a deep lying six who can get on the ball and make 100 passes a game. You can play him as an eight who plays box to box and arrives in the box and scores goals but also protects his own box. Or you can play him as a ten, because he can create assists and scores goals. He’s just a magnificent footballer.”

“He gives me tactical flexibility for each game, against different opposition. My job is to find what functions around him the best.”

It’s a slight dodge of the question, but we know what he means.

Rosenior also spoke about his belief in the playing out from the back tactic we saw under Enzo Maresca, and the “patient” build-up that has frustrated fans so much in the last two years.

Chelsea are being linked with a potential loan for Josh Acheampong, who is apparently wanted by Crystal Palace. We’re not sure fans would love that move, but it would give the youngster more game time.
