Dundee goalkeeper Trevor Carson has revealed how a life changing move to Celtic collapsed at the last minute. In the January window back in 2018, Brendan Rodgers was dealt with the blow that Craig Gordon was injured and had to find another goalkeeper to compete with veteran Dorus De Vries.

It was identified by Rodgers and Stevie Woods that Motherwell No.1 Carson would be the best candidate for the goalkeeping vacancy. As revealed on Open Goal, Carson admitted that a deal was done before an injury in Aberdeen prompted the deal to collapse.

Carson will likely cast an eye across at Scott Bain, who benefited from the roadblock in negotiations between Celtic and Motherwell. Bain was at Hibs on loan from Dundee after a bust up with Neil McCann, prompting a switch to Easter Rd, where he was the back-up keeper.

Bain is the third choice goalkeeper at Celtic after three years deputising to Joe Hart. The Scottish keeper has had spells as No.1, including winning finals. It could have been very different for both players.
