But City were given an early fright by the newly promoted side at the Etihad. Ipswich Town took a surprise lead through Sam Szmodics in the 7th minute at the Etihad. But that only seemed to fire up Pep Guardiola’s side. 3 goals in 4 minutes from the 12th to the 16th minute from Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne quickly extinguished the chance of a famous upset Ipswich Town victory. Erling Haaland was a wrecking ball in the four minute spell and Savinho and Kevin De Bruyne also gave the Tractor Boys fits.

For Manchester City Erling Haaland scored a hat trick as he sealed his hat trick in the 88th minute. It was a virtuoso performance from City’s number 9. He looks back to his barnstorming best after having the summer to rest. Based on his early season form he could be set for a massive 24/25 season.

There were also great displays from Rico Lewis and Savinho. Lewis continued on from his fine performance against Chelsea with another polished display. Savinho also showed he has taken to life at Manchester City like a duck to water. The game also featured the return of Ilkay Gundogan. It was a special moment when Gundogan came on as a second half substitute.
