Celtic return to Paradise tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, July 18) for a 3pm kick-off against English Championship side, Middlesbrough.
It is the first time that the Hoops have been at home since the dramatic scenes of the final day of last season’s league campaign, where Martin O’Neill’s side put Hearts to the sword to clinch a fifth consecutive league title.
Tomorrow’s game comes on the back of Celtic’s warm-weather training camp in Portugal, which culminated with a match against Sporting CP at the Estadio Algarve on Tuesday (July 14).
Speaking to the media at Lennoxtown this afternoon, Celtic goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo says that the team have worked hard in the build-up to this weekend’s match, as he set his sights on an even better campaign ahead for the Hoops.
“Like any pre-season, it’s been tough work but it’s been good.” Sinisalo said. “There have been a lot of double sessions, mainly in Portugal in the heat.
“There has been some tactical work, but it’s mainly been physical work, which is so important.
‘As the season gets closer, the tactical work starts to come in even more. You can see that heading in to this weekend.’
“We ended the season on such a high, winning nine games in a row and winning the double, which is outstanding.
“You take maybe one or two weeks and process it all and think about what you could have done better.
“But football moves on, and before you realise it, you’re back in training, going again and trying to be better than last season.”
