They're a point off Man City in fourth, and just two off the Magpies now.

It's five league wins in a row too as they hit form at the exact right time.

Villa haven't lost at home in the league since their very first game at Villa Park this season.

It's also now 19 unbeaten in a row across all competitions, one off the club record.

Like last season, Emery has made this place a fortress.

Villa have goals everywhere you look.

One sub scored, the other forced an own goal, while Marcus Rashford and Donyell Malen are now on too.

Emery's January business has given them so many options.

10 minutes left here, and it will require a comeback to top any seen this week for Newcastle to rescue anything here.

They look shellshocked.

VILLA PARK IS BOUNCING!

GOOOOAL! WHAT A HIT FROM ONANA!

Emery has worked his magic.

His side's fourth goal comes from another sub, Amadou Onana who curls a hammer shot past Pop after Newcastle fail to deal with players in the box.

GOOOOAL!!! ASTON VILLA MAKE IT 3-1

Jacob Ramsey comes on, and right away makes an impact.

His low fizzing cross from the left is turned in by the unfortunate Dan Burn, who beat Tielemans to the ball but also his own keeper.

That could be the game.

Villa hadn't lost in 18 games heading into today, and right now it looks like extending to 19.

Newcastle are still in it though, and Anthony Gordon is now on.

GOAAAAAL! VILLA RETAKE THE LEAD!

We said goals were coming, and Villa are the ones to get it.

Newcastle are caught out as Ian Maatsen overlaps on the left, and fires past Pope.

What a way to grab your first Premier League goal!

This half has been more of the same, with both sides going for the win.

Tielemans header was cleared off the line, but goals seem imminent.

Back under way at Villa Park!

HALF TIME!

A thrilling 45 minutes between two of the Premier League's in-form sides.

It's a wonder there's only been two goals.

This is the Watkins and Schär show.

The striker goes down under contact from the Swiss defender, and looks for a penalty.

A quick check shows that there was no foul.

Villa look the likelier to get the third goal, but Newcastle have been lethal in front of goal late.

OFF THE WOODWORK!

Watkins could have had a hat-trick, hitting the woodwork for a second time.

He found space in the box and cannoned a header against the post.

Newcastle can't contain him right now.

WHAT A CHANCE!

This game is end to end, and Marco Asensio has just missed a golden chance to put Villa in front again right away.

He miscues a cutback with the goal almost at his mercy, as Newcastle breathe a sigh of relief.

GOAL!

Newcastle are level, and it's Schär just as the script writers would have wanted.

The defender peels off at the back post, and heads in Harvey Barnes' excellent cross.

Youri Tielemans has been a standout for Unai Emery's side this season, and today is starting his 49th game out of a possible 51.

Remarkable consistency from the Belgian.

Newcastle have not settled at all, and it's hard to blame them.

Villa are looking for a second.

What a way for Watkins to make his case for more regular starts.

He's scored and hit the bar inside the opening five minutes.

33 seconds to be precise!!!!

GOAL!

Ollie Watkins amazingly gives the hosts the lead inside a minute.

He cuts inside and sees his effort take a massive deflection off Fabian Schär and past Nick Pope.

Incredible.

KICK OFF!

And we're under way at Villa Park for what should be a very interesting clash.

It hasn't exactly been a thrilling 40 minutes across any of the four fixtures taking place.

Off the post for Everton!

James Tarkowski gets his head on a corner but is denied by the woodwork.

A very impressive statistic from the Bees' star attacking duo.

Man City's fans haven't lost their sense of humour despite the difficulties this season.
