Villarreal have bought 10,000 m2 to expand the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza, adding pitches and facilities to ease daily work and accommodate more teams.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the land sits between pitch five and the new Ronda Sudoeste, and works are already under way. The project, led by president Fernando Roig and CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, is part of a wider investment.

This phase includes a new 11-a-side pitch that can also split into two eight-a-side surfaces, plus three five-a-side areas for psychomotricity aimed at children aged three to five.

Contractors have been on site for a couple of months and completion is expected this summer. The aim is to have the upgrades ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.

It is the first step in a progressive redevelopment, with a second phase to reorganise and create new spaces across the five-star complex used daily by the first team, the women's side and all Cantera Grogueta squads. Once this expansion is complete, the site will cover 130,000 m2 with 10 11-a-side pitches and three new psychomotricity areas, joining the existing eight-a-side fields.

The Ciudad Deportiva already includes five artificial and five natural-grass pitches, a multi-use zone, and two main buildings. The larger, the Residence on Camino Miralcamp in Vila-real, serves as base for the first team and academy and houses youngsters arriving from around the world. The other is the Offices, home to administrative staff and the board.
