Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin could be on the move this summer, and Villarreal are one of the clubs keeping an eye on his situation.
According to an update from Matteo Moretto on DAZN Futbol, Villarreal have recently asked about the Ukrainian shot-stopper, who is considering leaving the Spanish capital in search of regular game time.
Lunin has spent most of his time at Real Madrid as the backup to Thibaut Courtois. Last season, even though Courtois was out with a long-term injury, Lunin’s role remained uncertain.
Now that Courtois has fully recovered, the 26-year-old knows his chances of becoming Madrid’s first-choice keeper are slim. In fact, it is known that Xabi Alonso plans to keep Courtois as his number one.
Frustrated by the lack of opportunities, Lunin has handed over his future to his agent, Jorge Mendes. Mendes is actively searching for options in the Premier League and La Liga.

There is also interest from Saudi Arabia, where Lunin could earn a much higher salary while finally becoming a first-choice goalkeeper.
Real Madrid are not forcing Lunin out of the club, but they understand his situation. The club has made it clear that if an offer arrives that suits both Lunin and Madrid, they will consider it seriously.
Lunin wants to play regularly, something he knows won’t happen while Courtois is around.
A summer move seems like the best solution for everyone. Villarreal could be an option, but they are also looking at other goalkeepers, including Pau Lopez.
For now, Lunin’s future remains open, but a transfer seems likely as he looks for a new challenge and a chance to play every week.
