Villarreal have set a plan for 2026/27, prioritising midfield rather than an overhaul after last summer’s Champions League spend. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, they want a six and an eight and have candidates.

Left-back is covered, with Carlos Romero returning from Espanyol to replace Alfonso Pedraza.

Dani Parejo and Thomas Partey will depart. Pape Gueye could attract foreign bids and, for now, the club point to his 40 million euro clause.

If Gueye stays, one midfield spot would be filled from the academy and the other would involve limited spend. A major outlay is only foreseen if Gueye leaves.

Luis Milla is the priority, with talks under way with Getafe for the 31-year-old. An exit figure of 6 million euros is in place with Ángel Torres, which Villarreal hope to cut, while Al-Nassr have made a far richer offer. Real Betis also want him and will play in the Champions League.

Pathé Ciss of Rayo Vallecano is admired. He knows incoming coach Iñigo Pérez, can also cover centre-back, is contracted to 2027, and Rayo tend to make such exits difficult.

Antonio Blanco of Alavés has been offered and suits the role, but remains secondary. He is captain, tied to 2027, and current demands are beyond Villarreal’s plan.

Guido Rodríguez will be a free agent on 30 June after his loan at Valencia and has also been offered. His wages, Premier League level after West Ham United, make a deal unviable and Villarreal have not started talks.
