After a dramatic battle at Anfield, Paris Saint-Germain edged past Liverpool 2-1 in extra time and now turn their attention to another Premier League opponent, Aston Villa, with a spot in the UEFA Champions League semifinals on the line.
PSG had to dig deep to get past Liverpool, ultimately winning in a tense penalty shootout. Meanwhile, Aston Villa had a far easier path, cruising past Club Brugge with a dominant 6-1 aggregate victory in the Round of 16.
The English club took control with a 3-1 win in the first leg. In the return match, Marco Asensio—on loan from PSG—scored twice, while Ian Maatsen added another in a 3-0 victory to wrap up the tie.

While PSG players are on international duty, Vitinha did make a remark that should put Aston Villa on notice, revealing what the Premier League club can expect in the midfield battle when these two sides clash next month.
“Joao Neves? It’s true that we understand each other very well and had a good season,” Vitinha said (h/t Paris Fans). “We are performing well… We have a good dynamic within the club but we also have a strong connection with the players here [with the national team].“
