According to the BBC, Nottingham Forest and head coach Vitor Pereira have paused contract talks until after the new campaign begins. The Portuguese has 12 months remaining on his deal.
Both parties remain committed to the future, with Pereira keen to extend and the club interested in a renewal, and the plan is to resume discussions once 2026/27 is under way.
Pereira arrived in February as Forest’s fourth head coach of 2025/26, oversaw a surge that secured Premier League safety with two matches to spare, and took the club to the Europa League semi-finals.
Talks over fresh terms had started before the season ended. Last month he suggested an agreement would not be difficult, then after the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on the final day he reiterated his desire to stay and intended to meet the hierarchy following a short break.
He had already confirmed discussions were needed to align plans for pre-season, the future and player matters, adding that the contract would be addressed and was not a concern. He was recently linked with Al-Hilal but underlined his commitment to the Reds.
Forest finished 16th, five points clear of the relegation zone, after that turnaround under Pereira. Sean Dyche, Ange Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo had preceded him, and the target now is to climb the table and chase a return to European football. The 2026/27 Premier League fixtures are released on Friday 19 June at 10am.
