Vojvoda assesses Gabriel Menino’s Santos debut against Guarani | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Juan Pablo Vojvoda said Gabriel Menino is still fitting into Santos’ system after his debut. The midfielder started in the 1-1 draw at Guarani.

The match at Brinco de Ouro da Princesa in Campinas came in the third round of the Paulistão on Sunday 18. Wearing the number 25, Menino was replaced by João Schmidt in the 29th minute of the second half.

Vojvoda felt the team’s marking did not click in the opening stages. He said Santos improved after the hydration break, calling those the best minutes of the first half, with better finishing too. He added the second half followed a similar pattern and that Menino’s display should be viewed within the collective.

On loan from Atlético-MG until the end of the season, Menino was announced and registered on Wednesday 14. He stayed on the bench for the clássico against Palmeiras, then said at his presentation on Friday 16 that he has affection for Santos, has had little time with the Argentine coach and is willing to help even at right-back.

The coach described him as a midfielder who works well, but stressed it was a first outing and he must align with the team’s demands. He noted Menino has had only three or four days with the group and few training sessions, and reiterated his trust in the squad.
