Vojvoda outlines plan for Rony at Santos, with Gabigol and Neymar option | OneFootball

After defeat to Chapecoense in Santos’ Brasileirão opener, Juan Pablo Vojvoda confirmed the signing of Rony and sketched out his role for the 30-year-old. According to Globo.com, one option under consideration is to use him alongside Gabigol and Neymar.

Vojvoda views Rony as capable of featuring across the front line and being deployed in different roles as required. The forward is noted for his pace out wide and also played largely as a centre forward during a standout spell at Palmeiras.

Rony becomes Santos’ third addition for 2026, following Gabigol and Gabriel Menino. The head coach highlighted the player’s experience, title-winning background and hunger to contribute, stressing the need for arrivals who add to the collective.

He is expected to arrive in Santos on Thursday to see the CT Rei Pelé facilities. In attack, Vojvoda can also call on Gabigol, Neymar, Robinho Jr., Lautaro Díaz, Thaciano, Barreal, Rollheiser and Caballero, plus youngsters Pradella and Mateus Xavier.

Tiquinho Soares, currently in the medical department and with an offer from Coritiba, and Billal Brahimi, short of minutes, could leave during this window.

If registered by Friday, Rony could debut on Saturday in the clássico against São Paulo at Morumbis in the sixth round of the Paulistão. In the Brasileirão, Santos then face the same opponents on Wednesday at 20:00 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro, a match that could mark Neymar’s return and Rony’s first appearance in front of the home crowd.
