Wales will assess Daniel James’ fitness for their next friendly, with Craig Bellamy taking a cautious view after the winger’s recent issues.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United player remains in camp alongside three team-mates. Wales lost Thursday’s World Cup play-off semi-final to Bosnia on penalties. James struck from long range to make it 1-0 but did not complete 90 minutes, and Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams then missed in the shootout.
Before that tie, James had started only one game for Leeds since a hamstring tendon injury in November, and he arrived at camp unwell. Bellamy said his output exceeded expectations but he had to come off as he cramped.
Wales must play twice in this window and will host Northern Ireland on Tuesday night. It is unclear whether Bellamy will go full strength or rotate.
James is joined by Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu in the squad. With rotation not discussed, any of the Leeds quartet could start, though the priority is that all return unscathed.
Leeds would welcome the careful handling of James after a disrupted season. He hopes another FA Cup start at West Ham this weekend can reignite his campaign.
