Walsall confirm 12 departures as summer rebuild looms

Walsall have confirmed that 12 players will depart at the end of the 2025-26 season, signalling a summer rebuild.
The club are yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Mat Sadler, who left in March after two wins in 14. Interim coach Darren Byfield finished with four defeats in five League Two games, and Walsall slipped to 13th after topping the division on Boxing Day.
Aden Flint leaves after 48 appearances, two goals and one assist, having signed a one-year deal last summer.
Brandon Comley, the longest-serving player since 2022, departs with 151 appearances, two goals and two assists.
Former captain Jamille Matt departs after 23 goals in 140 matches, three this season. Midfielder Charlie Lakin made 97 outings with five goals and five assists.
Jamie Jellis made his 100th appearance as a substitute in the 3-1 loss at Bromley on the final day. He scored seven in 2024-25.
Evan Weir made 22 appearances after returning from a loan. Alfie Chang played six times amid injuries. Josh Gordon scored nine on loan at Barrow.
Priestley Farquharson has battled injuries, playing only 24 times across his first two seasons, then 35 games with five goals this term.
Academy pair Charlie Wragg and Dylan Thomas made EFL Trophy cameos. Thomas totalled four senior outings after signing his first professional deal in May 2024.
Jake Hollman’s two-year contract was terminated by mutual consent after only eight appearances, a year after his free transfer from Macarthur.
