FC Barcelona are set to play against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey 2024-25 semi-final stage, after beating Valencia 5-0 in the quarter-finals.
This upcoming semi-final tie is thus set to be quite a tough game for the Blaugranes, but any draw would have been tough as it was only Atletico, Real Madrid, and Real Sociedad, left in the competition, in addition to themselves.
As SPORT has reported, it was Bojan Krkić, a member of the sports management structure of Barcelona, who assessed the draw between the two Spanish giants.
The former Barcelona forward admitted that this is going to be quite a difficult match, but still expressed confidence in his team’s ability to get the better of their opponents:
“They are a very tough team, but we are going to prepare very well because we know what kind of team they are and how we need to face them… We are 100% confident that we can reach the final.”
As previously reported, the Atletico Madrid captain Koke was counting on the second leg being played at the Metropolitano to help his team get to the final. However, Bojan did not believe the venue would give any team a decisive advantage:
“They will be two great matches, and I don’t think it depends on whether the first leg is played at home or away.”
Still, he claimed that the home support in the first leg would help his team in competing with Atletico Madrid, as the fans are quite excited for this game.
The first leg of this semi-final tie is scheduled for 26th or 27th February while the second leg will be played on 1st or 2nd April. Thus, the fans will have to wait a while before seeing these two teams taking on one another in the semi-final round.
