A draw and a defeat have sent Chelsea’s nascent title charge sideways and suddenly has people asking manager Enzo Maresca about what he’s going to do to arrest the slide.
Asked to pick apart the defeat against Fulham last night, Maresca admitted he was going to have to look back at what went wrong, and potentially change some things:
“For sure, after a game, you need to go again no matter the result. Especially this month; I think in December, we already played eight or nine games in 25 or 27 days. So now it is also important to recover the energy and go again on Monday and then if we are going to make one change, two changes or three changes, we will see. Now it is a bit early but for sure, we are going to change something.”
Most of us were very surprised that the coach hadn’t made more changes for yesterday’s game – surely Monday night’s clash with struggling Ipswich will see quite a few.

So what is he going to change?
There are just not that many options on the table for him. Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile and Reece James would all be obvious options to come into the team, but none of them seem likely to be fit. Mykhailo Mudryk is out banned.
It would be great to give Malo Gusto a break from the team as his form is poor – but we can’t see Maresca risk Josh Acheampong.
After starting 3 games in a row, Pedro Neto will SURELY be dropped, with the punished Noni Madueke likely to get a chance to show what he can do in his place. Joao Felix on the left wing in place of Jadon Sancho is another obvious change to make if Maresca wants fresh legs.
