PSG head coach Luis Enrique is bullish regarding Les Parisiens’ chances of retaining their Champions League title, a feat no team has ever achieved since Zinédine Zidane’s Real Madrid’s three-peat between 2016 and 2018. The Ligue 1 champions start their Champions League title defense at home against Ivan Juric’s Atalanta Bergamo on Wednesday.

Luis Enrique is aiming for a third personal Champions League title, after previously leading Barcelona to continental glory back in 2015. “We want to rediscover that feeling of being able to win this trophy again, and that’s our objective from the first match“, the Spaniard said. Luis Enrique has added in his pre-game presser that PSG intend to write history again and win back-to-back Champions League titles. “We know it will be difficult, but we want to be very ambitious.”

Luis Enrique considers that winning a maiden European crown is the most difficult of achievements, because the players and the fans didn’t think it would be possible. “We know the way now. Everyone saw that we were capable of doing it, so we can do it again.”
