After the disappointment of consecutive group stage eliminations in the last two World Cups, Leon Goretzka has vowed that Germany will make amends this summer.
“We want to put things right this summer. The memories of the past two World Cups don't bother us," the 31-year-old explained in a recent interview with FIFA.com.
"It's true that the fans lost faith in us a little bit, and we would love to win them over again. That's the biggest motivation for me and for the whole team.
"We're not among the top favourites, let's be honest. But as Germany, which is a big footballing nation, there are still high expectations of us.
“We have some top players and, if everyone is fit, we can achieve a lot at the World Cup. If we're able to grow as a team during the tournament, then the sky's the limit,” he added.
