Werder Bremen enter race for Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy | OneFootball

Werder Bremen’s search for a defensive midfielder continues with Batista Mendy the latest to be linked with a move to the Bundesliga club. According to multiple reports, Villarreal, Getafe, Genoa and Torino also showed interest in the 26-year-old.

The 1.91m-tall midfielder was highly-rated when he first made his breakthrough at Angers. He also played over 100 games at Trabzonspor and Sevilla in the last three seasons. After the end of his loan deal in Seville, the Frenchman returned to Trabzonspor this summer.

However, the Turkish side are now open to a permanent transfer before his contract expires next year. Sevilla decided against signing the player on a permanent deal after he lost his starting spot at the closing stage of last season.

Footmercato reported Werder Bremen are ready to enter the race, but his €7 million market value could be difficult for the Green and Whites. Mendy played for France youth national team at the U19 level. Meanwhile, Trabzonspor are plotting a sensational move to sign global superstar Mohamed Salah.
