Werder Bremen will open the 2026-27 Bundesliga season with reduced capacity, Sky Germany reports, after a partial collapse in Block 53 earlier in July.

Around 500 seats in the upper tier have been cordoned off for the first two home matches, against RB Leipzig and FC Augsburg.

Managing director Hans-Jörg Otto said the club are not planning to use the block for the season opener or the second home game.

He added they believe they will be able to fully reopen Block 53 by the third home game.

Season-ticket holders from Block 53 will be relocated into seats that had been set aside for day-ticket sales.
