Phil Foden believes Manchester City are rediscovering their very best form after putting Ipswich to the sword at Portman Road.
City hit six, with Foden scoring twice, as the reigning champions moved back into the Champions League places following the emphatic victory.
Pep Guardiola’s side have lost just once in their last six matches and Foden can feel the shift in momentum as City eye a strong second half to the season.
“We’re building momentum, keeping players fit is important,” he said.“I put it down to people being in better shape and the team is bonding better. When we score we’re not rushing it. We’re keeping possession and build-up play was important today.
“It’s good to see me back scoring goals with a smile on my face and enjoying football. I want to keep going and adding to that.
“I’ve had a few goals and want to keep going, adding. It’s all seemed to change for me.
“I’ve been a bit unlucky before, now scoring with a few chances. If I can keep arriving in the box, these players will keep finding me. I’m delighted.”
City’s wretched run before before Christmas saw any hopes of a fifth consecutive Premier League title all but ended, but Foden says anything is possible with finishing in the top four the main objective.
“You never know what can happen. The aim is to stay in the top four,” he continued.
“It was probably the best [performance] this season in terms of all-round play, keeping possession at important times, defended well as well, so one of our best performances this year.”
City now turn their attentions to a crucial Champions League clash against PSG on Wednesday where nothing less than victory will do to keep hopes of automatic qualification alive.
Chelsea then visit the Etihad next Saturday in another huge clash in the race for the top four.
