Kevin De Bruyne believes City are finding rhythm and form after the battling 1-0 Premier League victory over Wolves made it nine matches unbeaten across all competitions.

The Belgian latched onto Jeremy Doku's cutback to fire in the only goal on his penultimate Etihad Stadium appearance.

In doing so, City move up to third in the Premier League, further boosting our hopes of a top five finish.

Our captain's strike also marked his 250th goal involvement under the management of Pep Guardiola, becoming only the second player to achieve the feat under the boss after Lionel Messi.

Wolves battled hard and struck the woodwork on two separate occasions, whilst also seeing an effort cleared off the line by Josko Gvardiol.

But De Bruyne was pleased that City found a way to grind out the victory in an important part of the campaign.

"We still have a job to do," he began.

"It was a hard game today, but we found a way to win. It’s a good weekend, we can relax a bit and see what the others do.

"We know that it’s been a tough year. We’re finding a little bit of a groove and are winning the games that we need to win for the moment. So let’s hope we can end the season like that.

"I think we pressed good and then had half a counter, Jeremy [Doku] with a great action and he found me in the right spot and yeah, a good finish.

"I just try to play as good football as I can. Obviously, I know I have got one game left here [at the Etihad], I just try to do my job as I have always done and I did that today. I’m proud of what I’m doing that’s how it is supposed to be."

The victory provides a major boost for our hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League, taking us four points ahead of fifth and sixth placed Nottingham Forest and Chelsea, who are yet to play this weekend.

An FA Cup final is also on the horizon against Crystal Palace, but De Bruyne insisted the team's focus is solely on our next league assessment away to Southampton next weekend.

He said: "We have a couple of weeks [until the final]. We know we have Southampton, if we can win that game that’s a good point to go forward for Champions League.

"And then Crystal Palace, that would be nice to end that way. For now enjoy the weekend and work towards Southampton.

"I like to win everything."
