West Ham United have registered interest in Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu, with the club preparing for life without Crysencio Summerville, per Journalist Simon Jones.

The Hammers have dropped down to the Championship, which means they will have to sell a couple of players, and Summerville is one of their most valuable assets.

West Ham are now eyeing Fatawu following a terrific campaign in which he bagged nine goals and seven assists in 44 appearances.

Fatawu is currently with Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, and a move could be on the cards for him this summer with the Foxes getting relegated to League One.

The West Ham target caught the eye with his one-v-one ability, cutting in from the right onto his favoured left foot to terrorise defences.

He is ‘absolutely lightning‘.

His Championship experience could be key as the Hammers look to bounce back into the top flight at the first time of asking.

Is Fatawu the right replacement for Summerville at West Ham?

West Ham should tread carefully before pushing ahead with a move for Fatawu, because replacing Summerville requires more than simply signing another exciting winger.

The Dutchman operates almost exclusively from the left, where his direct running, acceleration and ability to attack defenders on the outside give a different dimension.

Fatawu is a right-winger who does his best work cutting inside onto his stronger left foot.

Signing him to replace Summerville would be putting a square peg in a round hole.

If West Ham lose Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto is a far more logical solution.

The Leeds United attacker is comfortable on the left, knows exactly what it takes to thrive in the Championship and needs regular minutes.

Dwight McNeil, who operates mainly on the left, is another sensible target.

Fatawu is undoubtedly a talented player, but unless Jarrod Bowen departs this summer, West Ham should prioritise a genuine left-sided replacement.
