Fabianski left West Ham over the summer after seven years and 215 appearances for the Hammers.

But West Ham are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Wes Foderingham yesterday left to join Cypriot club Aris Limassol on a permanent deal.

Fabianski now looks set for a shock return to West Ham, where he will provide cover for Alphonse Areola and Mads Hermansen.

The Pole, who won the Hammer of the Year award in 2019 and was a popular figure at the club, will initially come in as third-choice behind Areola and Hermansen.

But there is a lot of uncertainty around the goalkeepers at West Ham, with Areola and Hermansen both struggling form.

West Ham paid £20million to sign Hermansen from Leicester in the summer but the Dane has endured a nightmare start to life at the London Stadium.

Hermansen conceded eight goals in his first two games against Sunderland and Chelsea, and produced a dreadful display in the Chelsea defeat before he was dropped by Graham Potter.

Areola came into the team against Wolves in the Carabao Cup and struggled as the Hammers lost 3-2 at Molineux.

But Hermansen then kept a clean sheet as West Ham secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory away at Nottingham Forest.
