The Hammers are preparing for their first Championship campaign since 2012 after coming 18th in the top-flight, missing out on safety by just two points.

Returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking is definitely something the East London outfit have to target given they are likely to have dominant financial resources compared to the rest of the division and could raise significant money through a number of player sales this summer.

The task now for the Hammers hierarchy will be to build a squad with enough quality and balance to navigate the challenges that a 46-game campaign brings, with there set to be a big difference in scheduling and physicality compared to the Premier League.

And one of the first ports of call for their transfer spending could be out wide, with West Ham reportedly interested in a promising 21-year-old wide player who excelled in League One and could well be ready for the step-up to the second tier.

The report from The Athletic states that the exciting wideman has been a long-term target for the Hammers, who are hopeful of agreeing a permanent deal ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

As per a report by The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas, West Ham are interested in a move for Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry this summer.

The Brighton man was such a potent force in League One and a big factor in Bolton’s promotion back to the Championship via the play-offs.

Cozier-Duberry recorded 8 goals and 12 assists from 34 games in the regular League One term, while he showed his mettle in the play-offs by scoring in the first leg of their semi-final against Bradford City, before notching an assist in the final at Wembley against Stockport County.

This led to Cozier-Duberry landing the club’s Young Player of the Year award, with such an instant impact so early into his career showing that the Championship could be his next calling card, and the Hammers may well offer him the opportunity.

The report states that Cozier-Duberry has been a long-standing target for West Ham. The winger currently has two years left on his contract at Brighton, while, of course, the Hammers will face competition from Bolton for his signature, with the Trotters keen to extend his stay at the Toughsheet Community Stadium following his heroics in their promotion campaign.

Amario Cozier-Duberry could be an ideal replacement for Crysencio Summerville

As is the reality after relegation from the Premier League, West Ham are expected to lose some big names before the summer transfer window is out, and Crysencio Summerville could well be an attacking spark that departs.

The Dutch international is generating interest from some massive names in the game, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and PSG, so it seems it'll be difficult for the Hammers to hold onto the former Leeds United wideman.

Therefore, an early move for promising winger Amario Cozier-Duberry seems a logical one, particularly when he will be heading into next season with an abundance of confidence, and could take the Championship by storm.

Though he struggled during his last spell in the second tier with Blackburn Rovers, the 21-year-old has all the attributes to be such a livewire at this level and give opposition defenders headaches, with his quality fundamental to West Ham getting back to the Premier League as quickly as possible.
