West Ham United are set to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as the club’s new manager after Graham Potter was sacked, according to multiple reports.

The Englishman was relieved of his duties on Saturday morning, just two days before the Hammers face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Potter had overseen just six wins in 25 games since replacing Julen Lopetegui in January. The London outfit have one win from their opening five Premier League games this season, leaving them 19th in the table.

West Ham reach agreement to appoint Nuno as new manager

Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto was the first to report that West Ham have made Nuno their top candidate for the vacant post, claiming that both parties are in “very advanced negotiations”.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Portuguese tactician has already agreed to take on the job and his “contract has been approved”. He will take his first training session with the squad on Saturday afternoon.

A club statement said that Potter had not “matched expectations”, with the entire coaching staff let go on Saturday morning.

West Ham have moved quickly to have a new manager in place for the Everton game as they look to improve the team’s fortunes and avoid a relegation battle.

Nuno is available after leaving Nottingham Forest earlier this month, despite signing a new contract in the summer after the club qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
