West Ham United’s Michail Antonio has made notable strides in his recovery after being involved in a horror car accident in December.
The Hammers striker was hospitalised with a lower leg fracture after his car veered off the road and collided with a tree in Essex.
Less than three months after the accident, Antonio has made a remarkable recovery and is currently in Dubai completing a training programme.
Speaking about the forward ahead of West Ham’s trip to Arsenal, manager Graham Potter said: “He’s going well, he’s been out in Dubai so I think it’s been good for him to get that work in.
“I think that’s a really good phase of the rehabilitation for him. As far as I know from all the reports from the medical guys, it’s moving in the right direction.
“It’s a case of not rushing that one but certainly it’s positive.
“It’s just more about slowly getting back onto the pitch, more pitch-based stuff but in probably a slightly warmer environment than Rush Green in February.”
According to the Mirror, Antonio has been jogging and doing gym work. Sprinting, jumping and ball work are understood to be the next phases of his rehabilitation.
Antonio has been a loyal servant for West Ham since joining the club in 2015 from Nottingham Forest for around £7 million.
His contract at the London Stadium is set to expire in June but the club have the option to extend it by another year.
West Ham brought in Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the winter transfer window.
Ferguson looked positive in his first league outing against Brentford last Saturday. Fans will hope the 20-year-old performs well this weekend against Arsenal.
